Forever (Wolves of Mercy Falls #3) by Maggie Stiefvater

Forever (Wolves of Mercy Falls #3) by Maggie Stiefvater
Scholastic, July 12, 2011

I'm going to try and avoid spoilers, but if you haven't read Shiver and Linger yet you might want to skip this review!

Summary from Goodreads:
The thrilling conclusion to #1 bestselling Shiver trilogy from Maggie Stievater.
In Maggie Stiefvater's SHIVER, Grace and Sam found each other. In LINGER, they fought to be together. Now, in FOREVER, the stakes are even higher than before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold on to as death comes closing in.
This is going to be a short review--I'm afraid to say too much and spoil the book! To be honest, I read Shiver and wasn't sure if I liked it, so when Linger came out, I read that, too. Still wasn't sure, but wanted to give the trilogy it's fair due, so I jumped at the chance to snap up a Forever ARC at BEA. And months and months ago I pre-ordered Forever--this trilogy is absolutely stunning and I can't wait to line the books up side by side by side.

So, so far I haven't told you anything earth-shattering, right? Suffice it to say that many of your favorite wolves and humans will return in Forever. Some will grow in ways you never expected, some will become unlikely allies, and some will unfortunately not survive. Through it all, however, Sam's and Grace's love remains strong. Will it be strong enough, though?

As far as trilogy endings go, I feel it could have been a little tighter, but I was still satisfied enough with the ending the way it was. I also think that the red text was a little distracting to read, as it's not something I'm used to. I had similar problems with the blue and green texts of the first two books, which is a shame, because the colors really added to the appeal of the books. How's that for a contradiction?

And now that I've read and reviewed Forever, I can finally start passing it along to my teens at the library--before they attack me for it!

ARC received from publisher at BEA.

Enjoy your reading!
